St. Michaels Primary is located in the area close to the Tower Street adult correctional facility in Kingston, which has a history entrenched in crime and violence. We have moved from a failing school with 98 students to a satisfactory grade by the NEI team with an increased population of 307. Both literacy and numeracy rates have increased by over 100%.

These upgrades will greatly improve safety, comfort, and overall functionality across the school. Main work will be tiling of classrooms and principal’s office along with completing staff room. Funds will also help with: (1) purchase of 2 refrigerators for the school (US$1,380). (2) purchase of 13 wall or standing fans for classrooms (US$830). (3) two printers with copy paper (US$630). (4) fire alarm system (US$960).

Before 2014, the school struggled academically. But now, performance has improved greatly as students obtained excellence results in PEP.
