The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) is a non-government, non-profit environmental organization formed in 1991. We aim to ensure the best possible stewardship of Jamaica's natural environment through a range of programmes designed to protect natural resources, increase environmental awareness and advocacy in civil society, develop vibrant environmental jurisprudence and ensure that a healthy natural environment is a key part of national development objectives.

JET has several ongoing projects including Nuh Dutty up Jamaica, Save the Jamaican Blackbird alongside multiple law and advocacy initiatives where we are working with communities to address environmental concerns. Some of these include legal expenses. The funding will go towards supporting staff time associated with these projects.

The mission of the Jamaica Environment Trust is to protect Jamaica's natural resources using education, advocacy and the law to influence individual and organizational behaviour and public policy and practice.
Funding will go towards salaries and other operating expenses. At the moment there is a funding shortfall of 39% for salaries. Unfortunately, not all of the projects JET is currently implementing covers staff time so we depend on donations and membership fees to help close that gap as well as contribute to utility costs.
JET has three focus areas under which all our projects are delivered: Law and Advocacy, Environmental Education and Conservation.
