Thornton Primary and Infant School, established in 1951 in northeast St. Elizabeth, serves 215 students with 12 teachers and 6 support staff. Despite efforts from stakeholders the school faces challenges from poor water supply and socio-economic hardships. Meals provided daily and additional welfare support for needy students.

To complete several key infrastructure upgrades that will enhance safety, comfort, and resilience. Priorities include reinforcing the canteen structure damaged during the 2020 earthquake, constructing a covered walkway to allow infants to move between buildings without getting wet, installing five 1,000-gallon water tanks to increase storage capacity, and building a 100-foot safety fence to secure the school yard. Additional improvements include installing windows in two classrooms and resurfacing one classroom floor to create a safer and more conducive learning space.
