The Lesma Ellis Foundation

The Lesma Ellis Foundation is a non-profit NGO based in Kingston, Jamaica, devoted to promoting educational advancement, social development and overall well-being for adolescents, senior citizens, men and women, especially in inner-city and rural areas. The Foundation runs a variety of programs, including scholarships, mentorship, technology training and initiatives to bridge the digital divide.

Mission/Impact Statement

Our mission is committed to the educational advancement, social development and the well-being of adolescent, senior citizen, men and women throughout inner-city and rural Jamaica. We hope to achieve this by providing mentorship, guidance, encouragement and confidence in future leaders.

Current Needs

US$500 provides one laptop for a college student. US$1,000 equips a CompuTrek cohort or 2-3 laptops. US$2,500 funds a JamWICT-M workshop. US$5,000 supports 5-10 students or multi-school CompuTrek. US$10,000+ enables expansion, bulk laptops, and year-long training.

Awards/Honors

Key Services or Activities

CompuTrek Marathon: A skills training program that equips Youth with free certifications in their respective field of interest. JamWICT-M: Jamaican Women in Cyber Technology and Mathematics is an initiative that mentors and empowers young women to pursue careers in technology, cybersecurity, mathematics and other male dominated fields. Laptop for College: A support program that provides laptops to deserving college students who demonstrate financial need and academic potential.
