Stand Up for Jamaica (SUFJ) is a human rights, non-profit human rights and charity organization. Our mission is the defense of the most vulnerable in our society, advocacy against any form of discrimination and access to justice for all. Our mandate is double: advocacy to promote legislative, social and cultural changes, and work on the grounds on projects responding to the needs of those who do not have any representation. The main activities and target groups are incarcerated people to whom we provide rehabilitation programs and counselling in correctional facilities, professional laboratory. We also offer skills training, counselling and legal assistance to GBV survivors and advocate for mentally ill persons and the LGBTQI+ community. In twelve years, SUFJ has provided education to over 1,200 incarcerated individuals. 80 GBV survivors have been certified in skills training. One UCC graduate states 'Being a part of the program has helped me value education in a new way. Losing something, my freedom, was the best way to unveil my potential.'
