BBEEs' after-school and summer learning programs are focused on mitigating learning loss through academic interventions and the use of manipulatives in reading and math. Students engage in small-group tutoring, computer-assisted instruction, reading for leisure, science, social studies, art, physical education and social emotional learning. Busy Bee Educational Enrichment, Inc. (BBEE) is a non-profit organization, with a charitable certificate in Jamaica and a 501-C3 in the US. BBEE was created to increase the literacy rates of disadvantaged children in Jamaica, West Indies by offering free academic focused after-school and summer learning programs.
BBEE needs US$7,500 to host a Summer Learning Program serving 100 students. Additionally, $700 per month is needed for transportation to bring children from surrounding communities to both the summer program and $400 per month will cover one teacher's salary.
BBEE's educational initiatives (after-school and Summer Learning Programs) are designed to support students who are struggling academically, especially where schools have limited ability to offer interventions, resources, or specialized support. Many families face financial barriers to tutoring, and some schools lack adequate training for teachers or up-to-date learning materials. Students in rural communities often miss out on enrichment activities both in school and during summer break.
