Recovery Fund For Jamaican Schools

Your donation will help to ensure that schools recover faster and play a stabilizing role in the lives of students and their families. We anticipate that multiple schools will be severely damaged by the Hurricane Melissa. The Recovery Fund will be used to support restoration of Jamaican public schools that are damaged by the hurricane. The National Education Trust is a leading non-profit that will administer the fund. NET has domain expertise given its role as a designated manager of construction and renovation of schools on behalf of the Jamaican Government. NET is also the lead organization for mobilizing charitable donations in support of the Jamaican Ministry of Education's strategic objectives.

NET manages relationships with donors and investors, acquire resources to improve infrastructure and meet other educational needs, while engaging communities for the benefit of our children.

Priority Needs

Packing winds of 175 miles per hour, Hurricane Melissa is among the strongest storms on record. The hurricane is expected to demolish structures and cause significant flooding across the island given its high intensity winds and slow-moving pace.

Key Services or Activities

NET facilitates customs waiver applications for donated items to the education sector in addition to the following services: School Needs Assessments, Fund administration, Project Management, Construction Management, Procurement, Liaison services. Current strategic priorities are: Adopt-A-School, Early Child Education, literacy & numeracy, boys in education, special needs, STEAM, ICT, Infrastructure, Safety & Security

Impact Made

In 2024 NET assisted 759 schools impacting 245,306 students & teachers across Jamaica. J$462,818,517 was secured in cash & in-kind donations that supported upgraded water harvesting & sanitation, school buses for safe transportation, ICT for digital learning, scholarships & school supplies + training & certification of early childhood teachers.
